About Kathy     

I spent my childhood around horses. I started out as a trail rider and then made my way to 4-H and the open show scene.  As an older youth, I started showing the Buckskin circuit, and when the time came to enter college, I attended and graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Horse Management. After college, I went to work for several different horse farms, building my knowledge and abilities. During this time, I also worked on acquiring my Michigan 4-H Judges Card. Now, I own, operate, and manage Whitmer Perfromance Horses. Below are a few highlights of my working experience: Baldwin Quarter Horses, Stanton, Michigan, where I held the assistant trainer position for 4 years. Sunnyside Appaloosas, Scottsville, PA, where I trained and conditioned Halter and Western Pleasure horses. Sommerside Quarter Horses, Vermilion, OH, where I managed, operated and trained for Western Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle along with running the breeding program. My work is primarily focused on Stock type horses, and I consider myself an all-around trainer. There is nothing I enjoy more than seeing the horses and riders in my guidance achieve the maximum potential within their individual athletic capabilities, and giving them the support they need to meet their goals both in and out of the show arena.

I have enjoyed a tremendous amount of success in different areas of the show ring. 
Highlights include:

• AQHA Futurity winners in HUS and Lungeline
• Congress champions in Equitation
• Congress top 5's and 10's in Horsemanship, Showmanship and Western Pleasure
• ApHC top 10 in the Nation in Youth and Non-pro classes such as Western Pleasure, Horsemanship, Equitation and Showmanship
• 2007 ApHC Youth Superior Championship
• 2006 ApHC World Show Champion All-Around Novice Amateur

In the ApHC, WPH has had futurity winners, multiple top 5 and 10 placings at the Appaloosa Nationals and World Show from Open to Youth and Non-pro events.
